Bharat Band was a style of protest on the increase in petrol prices and almost whole country participated in this protest. Himachal CM Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal showed his protest by walking his way to office. He said that he would prefer going to his office on foot to show protest against petrol prices in whole country.

Along with it, shopkeepers and other commercial establishers in various parts of state showed their anger by shutting their shops and commercial establishments down. According to reports, almost every shop in main parts of state like, Solan, Mandi, Dharamshala, Kangra etc remained close for about half day. One best thing that happened today was that no report of violence was recorded from any part of state. About 6000 shops were closed in this protest. According to Police, India-Marxist activists had set up road blockades at several places in state but there was no report of violence at all.

On this occasion CM said that this hike in prices of petrol had put all the common man under serious and very bad conditions. He said that it will also lead to hike in prices of essential commodities which will affect every class in state. He also told reports that they are trying their best to control this hike and VAT on petroleum products had been reduced substantially.
